Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City attend Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Festival in Porto, Portugal

The festival was held on the occasion of the visit and work in Porto of the Ho Chi Minh City delegation, led by Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc.

 

On July 28, the Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Festival officially opened and lasted until July 30 at Alfandega Convention Center, Porto City, Portugal.

The event was held on the occasion of the visit and working session in Porto of the Ho Chi Minh City delegation, Vice Chairman of the City People Committee Duong Anh Duc was the head of the delegation.


This visit marks a new development in the friendship and cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Porto, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the direction of cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Porto city government.

The festival is organized with a variety of economic, cultural and tourism activities. In particular, the economic cooperation forum between Ho Chi Minh City and Porto was chaired by senior leaders of the two cities and attended by more than 100 businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, Porto as well as European countries.


This will be a place for businesses of both sides to learn about the business and investment environment of Ho Chi Minh City and Porto, make recommendations to leaders of the two cities and connect trade.

Within the framework of the festival , many special art performances will be held with the participation of more than 30 artists from the Opera House of Boi Singing , the Bong Sen Theater of Ethnic Music and Dance in HCMC and artists of Porto.


In addition to the art program opening the festival and the art performance and cultural exchange program HCMC - Porto on the evening of July 28, there will be 4 performances of cultural art and ethnic musical instruments throughout. remaining days of the festival.

When coming here, visitors will experience a cultural space imbued with Vietnamese flavors with display areas and try on ao dai, display and arrange musical instruments and national costumes such as: lute, flute bamboo, pliers, storks, etc.


The historical and cultural connection is the link connecting the two cities

Within the framework of the business trip to Portugal, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation had a working session with Mr. Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto.


At the meeting, Vice President Duong Anh Duc affirmed, Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, always want to further promote cooperation in all aspects with Porto, especially in fields such as: cultural exchange, tourism promotion, economic and trade exchange, urban renovation and heritage preservation.


Porto Mayor Rui Moreira emphasized that Portugal and Vietnam are linked by long-standing historical, cultural and emotional ties.


Ho Chi Minh City and Porto are both cities that contribute significantly to the development of the two countries, even though they are not capitals. Therefore, the two sides will have great potential for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, technology development, science as well as city management.


The Memorandum of Understanding between the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the government of Porto for the period of 2023-2025 commits to strengthen cooperation in the fields of promoting cultural exchanges, tourism promotion, economic and trade exchanges. , urban improvement and heritage conservation. Besides, the two sides will also prioritize and create conditions for football teams/clubs of the two cities to exchange.
